Ruth Marion is the owner and director of Health Works Institute, Massage Therapy School. She has been involved in massage therapy education for twenty-two years, having served as the director of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Colorado from 1984 to 1994, chair and director of the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation from 1995 to 1996, and chair of the American Massage Therapy Association Council of Schools from 1991 to 1993. Ruth has a background in business management, in-depth knowledge of school administration, and a strong belief in the value of massage therapy and skin care. Ruth continues to contribute to the development of the profession while she focuses on the efficient operation of an educationally sound program.

Alexa Freeburg earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts from University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master Bodyworker certificate from The World School of Massage.   Her work experience includes 5 years as Financial Administrator of the World School and 7 years as Office/Financial Administrator at Health Works Institute.  Alexa enjoys being in nature and capturing fleeting moments through photography.   She is the Financial Manager and Financial Aid Administrator for Health Works Institute, and our students appreciate her optimism and gentle liveliness.

Shelly Bunde earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health Education from Montana State University-Bozeman in 1992. Her work experience includes serving as the Community Educator at a women’s health clinic, Assistant Director of the women’s center at Montana State University-Bozeman and the University of Minnesota and as a booking agent for a classical guitarist. Shelly enjoys bird-watching and she loves all forms of artistic expression. Shelly is the Academic Coordinator for Health Works Institute.






Amanda Martin attended Metropolitan State College of Denver, where she enjoyed courses in communication and theater. She graduated from the massage therapy program at Health Works Institute in 2007. Having gained experience in a variety of businesses, Amanda provides assistance to administrative staff in the areas of marketing and front desk management. She serves as Marketing Assistant and part-time Receptionist.
